GHOST FACE: How to Find the Correct Foundation Shade Make-Up

SOURCE: THESE PINK LIPS

Pick a Make-up Store
First, you should go to a shop (chemist/make up chain/department store etc) that sells makeup, DO NOT buy any make up online unless you already know the shade that fits you best. When in a store, use the SAMPLES, and ask for help from a sales rep to help you get your shade.
Test the Shade
To test it correctly, swatch it on your face/neck. The reason you test it here is because you want your face to blend in with your neck, so therefore matching the color to these areas will create a seamless, natural appearance. NEVER TEST YOUR MAKE UP ON YOUR HAND...    Your hand is lighter then your face and this will result in picking the wrong shade. Thus, resulting in GHOST FACE! LOL
Pick 3
To save time testing thousands of colors, pick the color you think you might be and then one slightly lighter, and one slightly darker, and test these three. If you can, remember the names of what you tested so that once you have seen which suits you best you can buy it quickly and easily.
Sunlight
To see which suits you best, don't judge whether it is the correct shade instantly in the shop - false lighting can dramatically change the appearance of the color, and so you must go outside, and ask the person you're with to see if they can see it, (by 'see' it's if they can see an obvious color that isn't like your skin).
Still Confused about your Shade?
Ladies of Color- If you are unsure of a color, go for the DARKER one - you may have been told to go lighter - DON'T. If you do it will be totally obvious you're wearing makeup. Plus, if you go darker you can add an lighter foundation to it (that you have at home) or add a concealer.
Caucasian Ladies- If you are unsure of a color, go for the LIGHTER one - you may have been told to go darker - DON'T. If you do it will be totally obvious you're wearing makeup. Plus, if you go lighter you can add bronzer if you want a tanned glow.
